I am still running 2.2. I see a lot of useful updates in the versions since then, are there any issues I should be aware of for updating, or should updating in place be pretty straightforward?

Yes, we're running everything on premises

In short, you’ll just want to make sure you update the server first. Otherwise, the client will ask for functionality the server does not support and flows will fail.
