is it worth renaming this channel 1.0 and having a dedicated 2 channel, sure gets confusing

I see what you're saying. It would help with clarity if people specified which version of prefect they are using. Given that 2.0 GA is about ~1 month away, the default of prefect will change soon. I can relay these thoughts to Kevin and Anna when they get back, but I'm sure they already have their opinions on it

youll still have folk on 1 for many months after

Agree with redsquare, and with this recommendation in general. My company won't be moving to 2.0 for quite a while, so having a separate channel would be useful

It does feel like there have been more prefect 2 questions to justify this. We’ll definitely discuss

I totally understand why this might be beneficial to have dedicated channels for both products, but we deliberately decided not to create a separate channel for the following reasons: • Slack is optimized for writing, not for reading (this is what docs, Google Search and Discourse knowledge base is for); that's why we want to reduce friction for the users so that they don't need to waste time (negative engineering!) on thinking: "Where should I ask my question?!" • we want that new users who are just getting started with Prefect can see both products - Prefect 2.0 and 1.0 rather than joining, e.g. only the
prefect-1-0
channel, and never even find out that we have some cool new Prefect 2.0 product • also, at some point in the future, Prefect 1.0 questions will become increasingly less common, so changing the channels introduces unnecessary friction in the process that doesn't make sense when looking at it from a long-term perspective But definitely a great point and something we had a heated debate about!

Its just hard as a newcomer to filter the 1 noise from the 2 and can end up leading you down blind alleys (I have been here a week)

I understand what you mean but there are tradeoffs and Slack is optimized for writing, not for reading. We will answer your question regardless of where you post it.
