Prefect 2.0 Add users & edit permissions
1
I just noticed that on both Prefect 2.0 Cloud and open-source, that there doesn’t appear to be a way to add more users to the account, and naturally not be able to edit any roles or permissions. So a couple of questions: 1. Is the ability to add users and set their roles/permissions be a feature which will be supported by the open-source version? Or will this be a Cloud 2.0 only feature? 2. If it will be tucked behind Cloud 2.0, are there any recommended ways of setting up a login? Planning on using Cloud 2.0, but would like to have the full picture in case one day we decided to self-host (for whatever reason).
Also, any ETA for these features (both in Cloud and OSS)
Self-answered that question via discourse I think. In short, if we self-host, we need to add our own authentication via a FastAPI plugin or own custom code

Yes that’s right. More users will definitely be part of it coming off of beta. There is some permissioning on the workspace level but it’s won’t be fine grained until a while later

@Todd de Quincey just to call this out - I love the way you structure your questions: 1. Clearly indicating whether it's for Prefect 1.0 or Prefect 2.0 2. Stating the main problem in the main message 3. Explaining the details in a structured numbered list in the thread You are a role model! Thanks so much

Also, Todd, as Kevin explained, we are thinking a lot about this and the reason why this feature of multiple workspaces, users, and RBAC permissions is not out yet is that multiple organizations require different setups and we want to ensure we provide functionality that will satisfy those different needs that's why most likely you will see workspaces and the ability to add users rather soon, but fine granular permissions is a feature way may add much later to ensure it satisfies a variety of use cases cc @Will Raphaelson FYI

Thanks for the shout out 🙂 My philosophy is that if make it as easy as possible for the person trying to help me, then I am more likely to get the help in the first place (although you guys do an amazing job of helping absolutely everyone). Thanks for the additional info. Much appreciated
