Hi Team - I signed up to evaluate perfect with a local worker. Didn't do anything, except to deploy one sample deployment and now it says "Cannot cancel subscription" . Everything is under the limit of starter pack. Subscription is a subscription and should be able to cancel and not forcing anything for a customer , right?
a
Are you trying to cancel overall or just downgrade? If you want to downgrade to hobby, you just have to delete the local worker, then you should be good to downgrade (that way your workspace is within the limits of what you’re downgrading to).
e
i am trying to find why i can't use what even that i paid for and not having the flexibility to manage my subscription. The workspace is have is default. and there is only one worker, both are allowed per the plan per starter. Why is it saying that i have exceeded the plan limits ?
a
Whoops I must’ve misunderstood. What I see from your screenshot is that you’re within the limits of starter tier. The banner I see says you’re unable to downgrade because you’ve exceeded the limits of free tier. So my takeaway was you’re within the limits of starter but we’re showing a banner saying you’ve exceeded free. Is there a starter tier limit you’re coming up against that you think is a mistake?
e
I think its definitely some mistake, just one deployment and one worker, default workspace , Then it started showing that i have exceeded the starter limit, its not even showing what i exceeded. The whole thing is shady from a new consumer standpoint, just giving a run around . Atleast show what's wrong , but don't try the absurd practices of locking the subscription.
I am not saying i want to downgrade or upgrade, rather what's wrong with what i am subscribed to ! Can't they show that on the screen?
a
hey! let me see if I can help out here. no one's trying to give you the run around here. can you give me your workspace id (not sensitive) and tell me how you're deploying your code (code snippet or description)
e
Thanks, Very simple. Local worker and local deployment. (Not github or managed)
workspaces ID : 5dfb77a8-e76b-4ecf-b152-d7d76da01e81 prefect deploy --prefect-file xxx.yaml
a
my suspicion is each time you're deploying it's trying to create a new work pool. but haven't verified that
when you go to deploy a new one ... what happens?
e
before even having any deployments, it was showing that message. Just after creating one local worker. Now i have 4 deployments. The yaml configuration is pretty standard, only the mention of worker. if its trying to do so, that's a bug within prefect. I know you haven't verified. What i can do is delete all the deployments and see the message goes away, but that's not the issue Some other metric behind the scenes its counting.
a
Ahh. Okay so you're not blocked from stuff. You're just erroneously getting a banner?
I thought you were trying to deploy stuff, getting blocked, which was what informed my hypothesis there. Where is it saying you exceeded the starter limit? The screenshot you sent only says you're exceeding the free limit.
e
Well ,that's the problem. I am not exceeding any free or starter limit. Just plain and simple, can anyone help me to understand what i am exceeding? Is this the right group to ask questions ?
a
A local worker exceeds the free tier limit. Bring your own compute is only available on starter+
