Hello community! Is there a log that tracks when flow schedules were turned turned on or off on Prefect Cloud? Our flow runs seem to magically turn off sometimes, and we’d like to be able to track why that happened. Additionally, we’ve noticed that the schedule slider can be a little finnicky, sometimes showing that a schedule is on when there are no upcoming scheduled runs (or vice-versa), or take a long time to enable/disable.

Hi @Julie Sturgeon - this isn't available at the moment except as an enterprise feature (Audit trail); we hope to expose some of this to everyone in the near future. Turning the schedule for a flow on and off can take longer depending on how much work the scheduler needs to do to either removing upcoming runs or create them; in addition, toggling the schedule multiple times in a short span could impact this. We could consider disabling the slider completely while the scheduler does its thing?

Thanks for clarifying @nicholas! What do you mean by
We could consider disabling the slider completely while the scheduler does its thing?
. What would that look like?
n
That would prevent additional toggles while we're doing the backend work to start scheduling runs; I'm not entirely sure what that would entail from the UI but I think it's worth opening a ticket for
j
That sounds like it may be somewhat helpful in the case where the scheduler is being toggled multiple times in a short span, for sure. What about the case where the slider state doesn’t match the behaviour of the flow? We had the case today where a flow scheduler was toggled on, but there were no upcoming flows scheduled. We needed to toggle the schedule off then on again to actually start the flows running again.

Hm in that case I don't think it has anything to do with the slider; the slider state is tied to the schedule being active or not (this is a true/false field on the flow); I'll need to check with the Cloud team to see what conditions would lead to the schedule being active and runs not being scheduled

Thanks @nicholas. We will be filing a support ticket because we’ve had a problem with a flow failing to schedule runs despite the schedule being on.

@Julie Sturgeon when you get a chance (or see this again), could you DM me the flow ID or flow group ID? You can find this on the details tile of the flow page (the top left tile, under the bar chart)

For sure! Will DM you
