Added some comments! I had no idea the `Flow.update` feature even existed, so this is all brand new and super cool!

Perhaps `Operators` in networkx is something worth looking at for inspiration?specifically how `compose` and `union work`. <https://networkx.github.io/documentation/stable/reference/algorithms/operators.html>
