The Role and Your Impact:
• Work on business-critical data pipelines that collect, process and store financial datasets
• Design, architect and support new and existing data and ETL pipelines and recommend improvements and modifications with a focus on maintainability, scalability, and performance
• Analyze, debug and correct issues with the platform
• Collaborate on data modeling and architecture with the quantitative and investment teams
• Work with researchers and analysts to make the process of training, testing, and deployment of Machine Learning models seamless
• Identify, design, and implement internal process improvements: automating manual processes, optimizing data delivery, re-designing infrastructure for greater scalability, etc.
What You Should Bring:
• Good fundamental CS background - strong understanding & usage of algorithms and data structures
• High proficiency with a modern backend language (python preferred)
• Experience working with SQL Databases, such as Postgres, MySQL, MariaDB, etc
• Ability to architect data process flows using modern orchestration systems such as Airflow, Prefect, or similar
• Familiarity with multi-machine processing in Kubernetes or similar systems
Bonus If You Have:
• Experience with a mix of purchased and proprietary, API-first tools and data systems
• Been responsible for making business-critical decisions around the storage layer, such as the choice between column-based databases or traditional row-oriented databases
• Experience with and pragmatic views about when to use off-the-shelf solutions and when not to use them
• Experience mentoring junior engineers
