Hi all! I am just getting started setting up prefect in an enterprise setting and have a pretty simple question that I can’t seem to find an answer to: is it still free and legal to use prefect in an enterprise setting? The pricing breakdown explains the personal use option, but is that only for prefect cloud? Can I host prefect myself and take advantage of all its functionality?

Hi Brennan! Prefect is licensed under Apache V2, you can read more here. This means it is free & legal to use Prefect OSS in an enterprise setting. There are some key feature differentiators between using a Prefect server and managing it yourself, vs using Prefect Cloud. You can see Prefect Cloud specific features & functionality in the docs. Of note for an Enterprise are security-related items like users/authentication/permissions/workspaces/service accounts/SSO/etc. There's also some other feature-specific differences like Automations & API Rate Limits.

Perfect, thanks for this Chris. Do you guys have any prefect related documention or best practices for the security items you mentioned?

We do! Most of that information will be under the Users documentation. Check out the sidebar of the initial Cloud docs link though, it has all of the Cloud-specific features and their docs.
